On the day of the big debate, establishment boy wonder Marco Rubio has been sent a message from a Florida newspaper that is certain to provide fodder for Donald Trump and others on the stage in Boulder, Colorado. The Florida-Sun Sentinel has called for Rubio to either start showing up to represent Floridians who sent him to the U.S. Senate or resign. As the campaign wears on it is getting harder for the ambitious young Republican to dodge his miserable record when it comes to doing his regular job by dropping by the Senate chamber to actually vote on matters of importance. The newspaper’s editorial board is responding to comments made by a Rubio intimate for a story that ran in the Washington Post over the weekend on how America’s authority on all things Cuban “hates” his job – a job that a majority of Floridians gave to him back in 2010.

The Sun-Sentinel spares nothing in excoriating the protégé of Jeb! in the piece entitled “Marco Rubio Should Resign, Not Rip us Off”:

After five years in the U.S. Senate, Marco Rubio does not like his job. A long-time friend told The Washington Post “he hates it.” Rubio says hate might be too strong a word, but he sure acts like he hates his job.

Rubio has missed more votes than any other senator this year. His seat is regularly empty for floor votes, committee meetings and intelligence briefings. He says he’s MIA from his J-O-B because he finds it frustrating and wants to be president, instead.

“I’m not missing votes because I’m on vacation,” he told CNN on Sunday. “I’m running for president so that the votes they take in the Senate are actually meaningful again.”

Sorry, senator, but Floridians sent you to Washington to do a job. We’ve got serious problems with clogged highways, eroding beaches, flat Social Security checks and people who want to shut down the government.

If you hate your job, senator, follow the honorable lead of House Speaker John Boehner and resign it.

Let us elect someone who wants to be there and earn an honest dollar for an honest day’s work. Don’t leave us without one of our two representatives in the Senate for the next 15 months or so.

You are paid $174,000 per year to represent us, to fight for us, to solve our problems. Plus you take a $10,000 federal subsidy — declined by some in the Senate — to participate in one of the Obamacare health plans, though you are a big critic of Obamacare.

You are ripping us off, senator.

In the words of celebrity chef and entrepreneur Emeril Lagasse – BAM!!!

It is a sentiment shared by many conservative voters in the Sunshine State who fell for his Tea Party rhetoric that was abandoned shortly after he had secured the job. Marco Rubio has always represented one constituency and one constituency only: himself. Floridians are getting short-changed while Rubio goes gallivanting across the country auditioning for donors and living high off the hog on the taxpayer dime. Hell, it’s no longer just actual voters that he stabbed in the back with his flip-flopping on illegal aliens and ardent defense of big state fascism – even prospective donors are starting to get wise to Rubio’s act. Billionaire vulture fund kingpin Paul Singer whose money buys a lot of influence is reportedly becoming impatient with Rubio’s living the good life and wants him to step it up or he’ll go and shop elsewhere.

No matter what the Florida Sun-Sentinel or Florida voters may think one thing is certain, Marco Rubio doesn’t care and he is going to ride the public gravy train like some indolent sloth on welfare for all that it’s worth for as long as he can get away with it.
