If there is anything more fake than Hillary Clinton’s cynical and insincere pandering to black voters it’s her embracing of a phony populism in supporting striking Verizon workers. In what CNNMoney is calling the “largest strike in the United States” in five years, 36,000 workers walked off their jobs this week at the behest of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) union. Socialist codger Bernie Sanders was quick to rally with the strikers as could be expected but with another Democratic party debate looming and the inability to euthanize the Vermont geezer’s campaign, Mrs. Clinton has tried to align herself with the workers as well. The problem however is that her concern for the Verizon folks is just another act for the suckers because she along with the money laundering Clinton Foundation have raked in the dough from the telecommunications giant for years.
The liberal website Salon reports on the queen’s hypocrisy in the story “Hillary Clinton rakes in Verizon cash while Bernie Sanders supports company’s striking workers”:
In some ways, it would hard for Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton to be more different.
Hillary Clinton, a Wall Street-backed multimillionaire, served for six years on the board of directors of Walmart, the world’s largest company based on sales. She remained silent at a time when the mega-corporation was viciously cracking down on workers’ attempts to unionize.
Bernie Sanders, on the other hand, has been unflinching in his support of the labor movement. Sanders has spoken passionately in support of striking Verizon workers on multiple occasions.
The Hillary Clinton campaign, meanwhile, has received tens of thousands of dollars from Verizon executives and lobbyists.
That’s not all. For a May 2013 speech, the corporation paid Clinton a whopping $225,000 honorarium, according to her tax records.
Verizon has also given between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation, which investigative journalist Ken Silverstein has referred to as a “so-called charitable enterprise [that] has served as a vehicle to launder money and to enrich family friends.”
Moreover, the Clinton Foundation has partnered directly with Verizon, which is notorious for its vehement opposition to unions. The corporation is a partner in the Clinton Health Matters Initiative, and said it is “proud to partner with the Clinton Foundation.”
Is it a classic case of biting the hand that feeds or just a con job that corporate insiders understand is total bullshit. It’s like when she began bitching about Wall Street greed despite having raked in millions of dollars and given secret speeches to the high-rolling banksters at Goldman Sachs. Politico reported at the time that the insiders fully understood that it she was just feeding the lemmings and that she would have their backs if she ended up in the White House:
Hillary Clinton sounded like a woman on a mission after her long drive into the heartland: “There’s something wrong,” she told Iowans on Tuesday, when “hedge fund managers pay lower taxes than nurses or the truckers I saw on I-80 when I was driving here over the last two days.”
But back in Manhattan, the hedge fund managers who’ve long been part of her political and fundraising networks aren’t sweating the putdown and aren’t worrying about their take-home pay just yet.
It’s “just politics,” said one major Democratic donor on Wall Street, explaining that some of her Wall Street supporters doubt she would push hard for closing the carried interest loophole as president, a policy she promoted when she last ran in 2008.
It was always going to be difficult to reconcile Hillary’s new sales pitch about being a champion for the middle class with her actual record. Both Clintons have become wealthy after holding public office and a good chunk of that comes from the government protected financial gangsters on Wall Street. Don’t ever forget that it was Slick Willie himself who set the stage for the 2007 economic collapse and the so-called “Great Recession” with his blowjob to the banksters by allowing the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act that turned the biggest banks into casinos.
Don’t look for the corrupt mainstream media to call her on this dog and pony show and her newfound concern for the Verizon workers – it is too busy working to undermine Donald Trump who is the only candidate capable of driving a stake through the heart of the Clinton restoration.
