It has been looking as though it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for Ted Cruz to win the GOP nomination outright and now he has been mathematically eliminated from doing so. Cruz was squashed like a bug in New York, blowing whatever momentum that he had accumulated after the entire GOP establishment got together to ensure that he would win in Wisconsin. By Tuesday night he was reduced to getting into a pissing contest with Sean Hannity while Donald Trump bagged all but a few of the Empire State’s delegates. Now Lyin’ Ted has finally been forced to cough up the truth that he and his political dirty tricks operatives and his establishment backers have always had a brokered convention as their game plan.

According to Philadelphia’s CBS-3 “Ted Cruz Prepared For Convention Battle With Donald Trump”:

Presidential candidate Ted Cruz said he is prepared to fight Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination at a contested convention this Summer in Cleveland.

Cruz, during an interview with Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said no one will reach the required delegate count and the victor will determined by a floor fight.

“We are headed to a contested convention. At this point, nobody is getting 1237. Donald is going to talk all the time about other folks not getting to 1237. He’s not getting there either. None of us are getting to 1237. We’re going to go into Cleveland, I’m going to have ton of delegates. Donald’s going to have a ton of delegates. It is going to be a battle in Cleveland to see who can earn a majority of the delegates who have been elected by the people.”

“Pennsylvania is going to have a powerful voice and we’re campaigning hard here in the primary and not only that, we’re going to campaign hard here in the general and do everything possible to win Pennsylvania in the general. Right now the polling shows Hillary Clinton clobbers Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. Hillary and I are tied in the general election in Pennsylvania and we’re going win it in the general if people come out and stand together.”

Cruz attempted to make the case that he is the only viable Republican nominee that can win the White House against Hillary Clinton, citing recent polls that show Trump significantly behind the former Secretary of State.

“We have got win and if Donald Trump is the nominee, it elects Hillary Clinton. Every vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Hillary Clinton. You might as well put a Hillary sticker on your car because Hillary wins by double digits against Donald Trump. I beat Hillary in the election and that’s why Republicans are coming together and are uniting behind a positive, optimistic message to bring back jobs and economic growth, to defend the Constitution and Bill of Rights and to keep America safe and defeat radical Islamic terrorists.”

Cruz is of course full of horseshit and he is going to get the living hell kicked out of him in Pennsylvania come next Tuesday. He is doomed six ways from Sunday unless he games the system and he knows it, this is why he has to rely on delegate shaving and other chicanery. He is also free to increase his pandering to social conservatives and evangelical Christians which he is vigorously doing. Slipping into his best snake oil peddling televangelist mode, Cruz today railed against Trump for comments perceived to be insufficiently pure in the ongoing bathroom wars. The problem is that this is a big time loser in the general election when it comes to appealing to those same crossover voters that just kicked him in the balls in New York and who are actually more interested in their current life and economic prospects instead of the hereafter.

The mainstream media, liberal politicians and social justice warriors are now closing ranks to throw open the nation’s public toilet facilities to transvestites and potential sex offenders and thanks to an intense pressure campaign they’re winning. It’s another losing issue and Hillary would take a flamethrower to tricky Ted in a debate over such a stance, in fact it could blow up so badly that the GOP could also end up losing downticket races with Cruz as the nominee – there are reasons why everyone hates the guy. It is this inability to appeal to non-religious voters that would have Cruz on the wrong end of a Reagan vs. Mondale landslide come November and put the Clintons back into the White House. So any who are inclined to throw in with preacher Ted will have at least four years to look into the mirror to see who helped to elect Hillary. With Trump’s resurgence it may be time for the GOPe and the big donors to switch horses and reach out to Mitt Romney who has been hovering around like some sort of ghoul waiting for his next big chance.
