The GOP establishment may end up with a dream ticket of a horse face and a horse’s ass if Trumpzilla is felled at this summer’s brokered convention. Ted Cruz is reportedly reaching out to failed Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as a potential running mate. It would be an affirmative action move that not only returns Fiorina to her attack dog role against Queen Hillary – one that had to be unveiled early due to the appearance of Trump – but would also give tricky Ted a weapon in his arsenal to team up with poor Heidi against the “woman hating” Republican front-runner.

According to ABC News “Carly Fiorina Being Vetted as Possible Ted Cruz VP Pick, Aide Says”:

Carly Fiorina is being vetted by Ted Cruz’s campaign as a possible vice presidential pick, Sarah Isgur Flores, a senior strategist to Fiorina, told ABC News.

Flores said no offers have been made at this time.

Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard CEO and Republican presidential candidate, endorsed Cruz shortly after suspending her own bid for the White House earlier this year.

Cruz acknowledged to reporters Monday that his campaign is in the process of vetting a short list of potential vice presidential picks but would not confirm if Fiorina was on that list.

“We have acknowledged some time ago that we have begun a vice presidential search process,” Cruz said. “Any responsible candidate just a couple of months out from the convention would begin that process. We’ve begun examining both a long list and now a shorter list. And that naturally includes a vetting process. At this point, no decisions have been made in terms of who a nominee would be, or what the timing would be of the announcement.”

Arch-neocon William Kristol’s Weekly Standard broke out the drool buckets over the pairing but some would be wise to recall that it was the smirking Kristol who foisted off Sarah Palin on John McCain and we all know how well that turned one out. Cruz’s negatives are off the charts with his narrow focus on a small but energetic demographic and he would be drawn and quartered by the Clinton machine in the general election. The only thing that could possibly make Cruz even more radioactive in a national election would be a running mate who is even more unlikeable as he is and that would be Ms. Fiorina who would be a millstone tied around his neck and easy pickings for Hillary.

New York Congressman Peter King recently remarked that he’d take cyanide if Cruz got the nomination, he can take his gulp and he  then pass the bottle to Ted and Carly but it’s hard to see this combo making it out of the brokered convention or even past a second vote.
