Sensing that the restoration of the Clinton dynasty is now imminent, Democrats are increasingly showing their true colors as well as a fondness for fascism. With the gun grabbers on the march after the terrorist massacre in Orlando they aren’t about to let something as trivial as the right to due process stand in their way.
Flouting his oath to uphold the Constitution, Senator Joe Manchin spat on the concept of due process. The West Virginia Democrat and Hillary Clinton backer went on MSNBC’s Morning Joe where he proposed an arbitrary and Draconian way to prevent future terrorist massacres. Manchin floated the idea of secret watch lists for Americans who under a vaguely defined suspicion could be denied their civil liberties for five years.
Politico reports that “Manchin: Due process is ‘killing us right now’ in gun debate”:
The main sticking point to resolving congressional disputes over gun control is balancing the constitutional right to due process with the urgency to prevent future terrorist shootings like the one that claimed the lives of 49 people, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said Thursday.
“The problem we have, and really the firewall we have right now is due process. It’s all due process,” Manchin said during a discussion on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “So we can all say we want the same thing, but how do we get there?”
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) proposal would allow the attorney general to delay the purchase of a gun for up to three days, while Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) has introduced legislation that would require the attorney general to submit terror watch lists to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court as a check on power.
“If a person is on the terrorist watch list like the gentleman, the shooter in Orlando, twice by the FBI, we were briefed yesterday about what happened but that man was brought in twice. They did everything they could,” Manchin said. “The FBI did everything they were supposed to do but there was no way to keep him on the nix list or keep him off the gun buy list. There was no way to do that. So can’t we say that if a person under suspicion, there should be a five-year period of time that we have to see if good behavior, if this person continues the same traits, maybe we could come to that type of an agreement. But due process is what’s killing us right now.”
It was a suggestion more befitting of Stalin’s USSR than the United States of America but the cable TV bobbleheads didn’t bother to call him on his bullshit. There was some back and forth where Mahchin bobbed and weaved on actual gun confiscation but nobody bothered pointing out that the idea itself is unconstitutional.
President Barack Obama has already lumped in presumably white domestic groups in with Muslim extremists as potential terrorist threats and the meme is out there that “right-wing” groups are as much a threat as radical Islam. His hand-picked Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson went on television earlier this week to state that his agency would soon be expanding it’s mission into enforcing gun laws.
This does not bode well for those of a conservative political persuasion who could soon be subject to constantly shifting definitions of what constitutes terrorism and with a revenge-minded psychopath calling the shots. Perhaps it will soon be something as simple as legitimate political dissent that results in one being placed on a secret watch list with no way to seek relief through the courts once due process has been relegated to the burn bin.
These last seven and half years have been very bleak times in the republic of Obamastan and it is about to get even worse for patriots if Hillary isn’t kept out of the White House.
