In yet another story from tragedy plagued Orlando, an NFL quarterback was arrested after pulling a gun on a woman during a drunken altercation. Journeyman Tarvaris Jackson who last played for the Seattle Seahawks became agitated when he was locked out of a vacation home after a night of drinking by a woman who he was staying with. According to reports Jackson kicked in the door and pulled a gun on the woman whose name has not been revealed but may have been his wife.
ESPN reports that “QB Tarvaris Jackson charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon”:
Free agent NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening a woman in Florida, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to an arrest report first obtained by WESH 2 News in Orlando, Florida, Jackson was staying at a vacation home in the Regal Oaks Resort and returned to the unit drunk at around midnight Friday. He kicked in the upstairs bedroom door, according to the arrest report — details of which were reported in the Orlando Sentinel — and began yelling at the woman, who went downstairs and grabbed a knife.
The woman told police that Jackson followed her downstairs, grabbed a handgun out of a bag and pointed it at her, saying, “I’ll kill you [expletive]. I’ll kill you.”
Jackson told the deputies who responded to the incident that there was no gun in the rental, but a gun and container of marijuana were found on the kitchen counter, according to the arrest report.
Three children were asleep in the vacation home during the incident, according to the report.
Jackson was booked in Osceola County Jail and posted bond later Friday.
Jackson has been glued to the bench for years after a semi-successful stint as the staring signal caller for the Minnesota Vikings and is at best a career backup because he just isn’t good enough to start for even the most quarterback needy teams. An amusing story on the incident at Yahoo Sports states that the victim mocked Jackson for his on the field shortcomings.
Tarvaris Jackson, a longtime NFL quarterback with the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks who is currently a free agent, was arrested after he allegedly pulled a gun on his wife, according to Chris Hush of WESH in Orlando.
Hesh reported the news in a series of tweets, citing the police report that he also tweeted. Hesh said an intoxicated Jackson allegedly loaded a gun, pointed it at his wife and said “I’ll kill you.”
According to Hesh’s tweets, Jackson’s wife said, “You better be accurate (because) you ain’t accurate on the field.”
That one really had to hurt but not as much as this lapse in judgement is going to harm the 33 year old free agent’s shot at landing another NFL gig. Considering that he has attempted all of 19 passes in the last four seasons it was already going to be tough sledding and even more so after the domestic incident.
