One of the most peculiar and interesting things in this most bizarre of all election seasons is the way that the establishment media has embraced the Libertarian party. Normally the butt of jokes and target of much mockery, the L.P. has seen a tremendous reversal of fortune with a nationally televised CNN town hall and time on the Sunday morning bloviation circuit. The more cynical may believe that there is more to this than meets the eye and they would be correct-o-mundo. Both “libertarians’ on the ticket are in actuality opportunistic establishment Republicans who are waging a covert front in the war on Trump.

Today former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson – Mitt Romney really likes him – used his appearance on the McNews shows to push what will be a familiar meme as the Never Trumpers make a last ditch effort to push for dumping Trump in Cleveland.

As reported by CNN “Gary Johnson: Trump says ‘racist’ things and should be disqualified from presidency”:

Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson said Donald Trump says “racist” things and should be disqualified from becoming president for saying that he is “looking at” replacing employees of the Transportation Security Administration who are Muslim and wear hijabs.

“He has said 100 things that would disqualify anyone else from running for president but doesn’t seem to affect him,” he told CNN’s Brianna Keilar in an interview aired Sunday on “State of the Union.” “It’s racist.”

Johnson was referencing a recent Trump town hall in New Hampshire when a woman who, while pointing to her head, objected to the “heeby jobbies” worn by some employees at the TSA — an apparent reference to hijabs, or headscarfs that some Muslim women wear. She urged him to replace Muslims with veterans. Trump said: “And we are looking at that.”

“The stuff he’s saying is just incendiary,” Johnson said of Trump, adding he’s a “neo-isolationist.”

The former two-term New Mexico governor also said he is aware that Mitt Romney is considering voting for him over Trump in November, having told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer last month that he wants to “get to know Gary Johnson better.”

Johnson said he thinks there has been “some outreach” to the 2012 Republican presidential nominee but did not provide any specifics about steps he is taking to woo Romney.

Johnson also told CNN that he is considering “ending” the drone strike program if he is elected president.

“Look, if we’re attacked, we’re going to attack back, but these drone strikes do have the unintended consequences of killing innocent people,” he said. “Try to put yourselves in the shoes of families that have been affected.”

Johnson declined to criticize Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state. She was interviewed by the FBI Saturday over the matter, her spokesman said.

There is a reason why Johnson is not calling out Queen Hillary over her damn emails and that is because he like the rest of the Never Trumper cabal of treasonous R.A.T.’s might as well just be getting paid by her campaign because they are going to put her into the White House.

Again, it is no coincidence that the first time in history that the Libertarian party gets any love from the media is when the candidates can be used as attack dogs against Trump. There is also the hope that the establishment Republicans can denounce the Donald and throw their support behind Johnson and former Massachusetts Governor William Weld in the hope that they siphon off enough votes from Trump to swing the election to the Clintons.

Once this election is done the L.P. will once again be banished from the media when Johnson and Weld have moved onto greener pastures and real libertarians regain control of their party.
