Now that Hillary Clinton has done away with any and all pretenses that she will govern as a progressive with her descent into shrillness and red-baiting, it merits pointing out that the neocons are back with a vengeance. That’s right – the very same people who were instrumental in George W. Bush’s wars are on the ballot along with her.Mrs. Clinton has been and always will be a warmonger, a trait that has endeared her to both the Pentagon pimps as well as the Wall Street racketeers who benefit off of a state of perpetual war. With the Clinton restoration all but guaranteed, Hillary has made no secret of her intent to escalate the violence in Syria as well as to instigate what could be a full scale war with Russia — possibly through the U.S. backing of the Ukrainian gangster regime to mount an invasion of Crimea.

The Democrats have successfully wrestled the mantle of the war party away from the Republicans and as a result the neocons have been migrating back to the party that originally puked them up. With the DNC convention now behind her and Bernie Sanders having been packed off like a crazy old uncle in the attic, Hillary is freed of the shackles of restraint and her speeches have become increasingly bellicose and fascistic in nature.

There are the constant claims of sinister Russian plots to subvert the election and the demonizing of her opponent Donald Trump as the head of the Kremlin’s fifth column in America. She has managed to weave together a strident narrative cribbed from the greatest hits of both Senator Joseph McCarthy and Dick Cheney and is now prowling the outer reaches of the lunatic fringe peddling her warmed-over Cold War conspiracy theories.

In one of the most amazing turnabouts in history, the Democrats have also become the party embracing the type of American exceptionalism has served as the lynchpin of the neoconservative ideology ever since the days of Leo Strauss. It was quite the scene to behold when antiwar protesters at the Philadelphia convention were drowned out by mobs of pro-Hillary zealots chanting “USA! USA! USA!”, as clear of a sign as any that we have now passed through the looking glass and are being marched up to the gates of Hell itself.

Mrs. Clinton has recently begun invoking the potent elixir of that American exceptionalism on the campaign trail, peppered with her neo-McCarthyist denunciations of her critics. She has even gone so far as to channel George W. Bush’s worst excesses in dispersing the “unpatriotic” smear which once again will be used to stifle dissent of critics of perpetual war. It is all very sweet, sweet music to the ears of the neocons. She may as well be Bush in drag.

The exodus from the GOP over to Team Hillary was led by ideological standard bearer Robert Kagan who took to the editorial pages of the neocon-infested Washington Post to denounce Trump as a fascist and to throw his support behind Mrs. Clinton. He is even doing fundraisers for her which is understandable considering that he is married to Victoria “f*ck the EU”Nuland who was instrumental in the coup that toppled the legitimately elected leadership in Ukraine and who is a virtual lock to be Clinton’s Secretary of State.

The Kagan family has been a common element that has snaked through decades of ruinous American foreign policy debacles like a corpse-choked river of blood. A refined and well-spoken intellectual, the mild-mannered Kagan needs to be judged on his dangerous ideology rather than his ability to serve as an affable pitchman for the blood barters. He comes across as a big teddy bear but it is what he is preaching that has led to mountains of dead bodies and defense contractor booty.

Mr. Kagan was a co-founder of the infamous Project for the New American Century (PNAC) which became synonymous with the bloody quagmire in Iraq as that war’s architects were briefly exiled from respectability. Not to worry though, ever the canny operator, he helped to re-brand and relaunch the neocons as a bipartisan force with the creation of a new think tankThe Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) which has been instrumental in pushing for a new Cold War with the Russia.

While the neocons’ advocacy for Israel is well known, their roots are really in the Cold War era and a burning, pathological hatred for Russia. Many of today’s most influential neocons — including Kagan — found a friendly incubator in the shadowy deep state netherworlds of the Reagan administration where they were able to coalesce under the cold warrior umbrella only to watch in dismay as the Soviet Union collapsed and the great unifying menace of Russian Communism was no more.

They would get another shot at glory though when they rose to the apex of foreign policy power as key drivers of the war machine under George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. The September 11, 2001 attacks and the launching of the permanent Global War on Terror (GWOT) was like a dream come true for the PNAC bunch. In their 2000 manifesto “Rebuilding America’s Defenses”, the Project for the New American Century longed for “a new Pearl Harbor” as a catalyzing event to gain public acceptance for the use of U.S. military might to conquer the world. On that tragic and terrible day it dropped right into their laps like a gift from the heavens.

But ill-conceived plans often go bad and that’s exactly what happened with the invasion of Iraq – a bloody sinkhole of death and despair to this very day and a quagmire that has served to destabilize the entire reason and lead to the rise of the savage extremism of ISIS. While the entire fiasco can’t be blamed entirely on Bush – Obama and Hillary’s Libyan regime change also played a huge role – it was the neocons who drew up his foreign policy who upset the existing order and threw the Middle East into chaos and anarchy.

Like Ozymandias, the neocon dream seemed dead in the Iraqi desert as well as within the walls of Abu Ghraib prison but they are a persistent bunch and like Lazarus, they have risen from the dead.

As previously mentioned, the neocons have very successfully re-branded and have joined with liberal interventionists for a repackaged global crusade that aims to topple the rule of Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The 24/7 agitprop that is laying the groundwork for a war with Russia began to build to a crescendo soon after the reviled Putin pulled Barack Obama’s chestnuts out of the fire over the anticipated 2013 regime change attack on Syria.

With the mysterious usage of Sarin gas on civilians at Ghouta, the media and the establishment hawks had their justification for the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad but Obama balked. Secretary of State John Kerry then cracked open the door for Putin to save the day by negotiating the surrender of Syrian chemical weapons stocks and the war was aborted.

That one really didn’t sit very well with many.

But what really enraged apple pie authoritarians was Putin’s audacious editorial that ran in the New York Times on September 11, 2013 in which the Russian Federation president blasted the concept of American exceptionalism:

And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

The NYT piece represented the crossing of the Rubicon for the neocons and their cruise missile liberal cohorts. It was a mere six months later that Nuland’s orchestrated coup d’eat in Kiev – and it’s heavy reliance on openly neo-Nazi elements – firmly set America on the current collision course with Russia. The mobs filled with agitators succeeded in the overthrow of democratically elected Viktor Yanukovych and the installation of a regime to be headed up by U.S. puppet Arseniy Yatsenyuk. The same man from Nuland’s intercepted phone call scheming the regime change as “Yats is the guy”. Murderous oligarch Petro Poroshenko aka the Chocolate King has since become the top dog in Kiev but the most vile elements are still well-represented there.

The textbook color revolution all went down like a charm while Putin was preoccupied with the Sochi Winter Olympics, a bit of payback for his meddling in the Syria project. However, in what was a huge blow to the regime changers, Russia moved to quickly annex Crimea and protect it’s Black Sea naval base at Sevastopol. This was a particularly galling development to Nuland who had openly boasted to corporate vultures of the $5 billion that the U.S. had plunked down in order to “develop” Ukraine.

It was immediately after the Kiev coup that the propaganda really began to increase in intensity and neocon ideology began to bleed over into the new media favored by the millennial generation. Internet news powerhouses like Vice, Buzzfeed and the Daily Beast promulgated the hatred of Russia to a younger audience on a daily basis like a drug dealer reaching out to new customers.

Additionally, a cottage industry was spawned in conjuring up wild tales of Russian infiltration of American websites through a “troll army” that in September 2016 now appears to be a convenient excuse to call for the crushing of legitimate political dissent.

Filmmaker Robbie Martin does a wonderful job of outing what he refers to as the new “hipster” neocons in his epic three-part documentary “A Very Heavy Agenda” which is described as:

Post-9/11, the War on Terror had outlived its usefulness. The minds behind the think tanks that drive America’s interventionist foreign policy decided that the U.S. needed a new enemy, so they chose an old one — Russia.

Martin relies on actual television footage of the neocons and their allies to make the damning case against them in their own words. The documentary is a critical component in understanding how saturated that the new media has become by neocon snake oil in a more trendy bottle.

The middle installment of the trilogy is entitled “How We Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the New Neocons” picks up at the time that the Ukrainian government was toppled and explores how the younger shills for the war machine continue to preach the gospel of Kagan, Kristol, Wolfowitz and Perle. They are all now working desperately to ensure the election of Mrs. Clinton and the resumption of the drive for planetary conquest.

Robert Kagan is hardly the only neocon fascist shilling for Hillary. A growing multitude of Bush-Cheney national security and foreign “experts” are locked and loaded for the Russian bear as well. Some of the more prominent names are Michael Hayden who despite heading up the NSA before and during 9/11 was not only never held accountable for the failure to detect the plot, but went on to lead the CIA and is a cherished figure on the media propaganda circuit. Michael Chertoff, Bush’s former Homeland Security Chief who became a lobbyist for those naked body scanners is also likely looking to pass back through the revolving door after the Clinton restoration. The list is long and getting longer as the election draws closer.

On the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11 it would seem that our national doom has already been sealed with establishment moving in unison to put Hillary into the White House. The media and the Democrats have banished every relevant issue from the election with the exception of red-baiting and banging the war drums. Even the Department of Homeland Security is getting in on the game with Obama’s stooge Jeh Johnson floating the idea that DHS may act to declare the election itself as “critical infrastructure” to prevent the “Russians” from hacking the system and keeping Hillary from her rightful place upon the throne.

If there is one positive though it is that Mrs. Clinton is coming unglued at a frightening pace as she brays at Russian phantoms and appears badly in need of a long vacation in a padded cell. Her big bounce in the polls has begun to evaporate as she embraces conspiracy theories and raw demagoguery of a dark, apocalyptic era that was thought to have fallen along with the Berlin Wall. She also may have just had her Mitt Romney 47 percent moment by calling millions of Americans who support Trump as “a basket of deplorables” – a term that would be very apropos for her own neocon backers.

At this point it’s looking like better than even money that Mrs. Clinton will self-destruct as she becomes more irrational, it could be that Trump will trigger her in the upcoming debates causing an ugly – and disqualifying – meltdown in front of a national TV audience. With her mask having been prematurely discarded the American people are getting a very good look at the deranged sociopath whose possession of the nuclear launch codes and vendetta against Putin would be a very volatile combination.

Granted that a Trump presidency would have it’s own set of very serious problems but it’s saving grace would be that World War III and a potential extinction level event could be avoided. The added bonus would be that with the neocons having abandoned ship on the Republican party, a defeat of Clinton would torpedo their lifeboat and be a triumph for humanity.
