With the National Football League’s myopic decision to enable San Francisco 49er scrubeenie’s militance instead of taking a stand, it appears that the league may have a problem. It appears as though viewership is dropping, in particular during the big prime time showcase slots on Sunday and Monday.
According to Forbes “NFL’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ Ratings In Free Fall”:
At this point, NFL fans have to wonder if the league is ever going to publicly address its declining TV viewership. As the ratings continue to shrink, so too does the advertising money, hitting the league where it really hurts. Last night was no different.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football was down yet again in viewership, drawing in 16.68 million viewers and scoring a 6.19/19 rating in the advertiser friendly 18-49 demo. The numbers mark a season low for SNF and the show’s 11.0 overnight rating is the lowest total since 2007 (ouch). While the NFL still won the night in total viewers, those numbers mark a steep drop from last week’s 18.62 million/6.8 ratings and the week before’s 20.6 million/7.4 rating.
The NFL was done no favors by the matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers dominating the Kansas City Chiefs in a sleep-inducing 43-14 rout, but the league is accustomed to being quality proof. In years past, it wouldn’t matter if it was a blowout or a nail biter, SNF was TV’s king. Since 2011-12, Sunday Night Football has finished as TV’s top offering in the 18-49 demo and total viewership. While football is on pace to repeat that feat again, the margin of victory is shrinking rapidly.
With the Hillary shills in the liberal media leeching onto the motley Kaepernick in order to exploit racial divides for political gain the backlash is brewing. Each and every weekend brings more player silliness and many Americans who are turned off are simply tuning out. After all, the main purpose of sports is a brief escape from the problems of the world and the burdens of day-to-day life. When acrimonious racial politics including cop-hating and trashing the flag spill over into the games, many will simplify find something else to watch and that is exactly what is happening..
There is also the declining quality of the game. Take for example the crapfest with my local team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon, a real doozy of a downer. Accused rapist and local hero Jameis Winston stunk up the joint against the reigning champion Denver Broncos who ended up winning 27-7. The former USF Seminole threw two early interceptions to all-star thug Aqib Talib and the game was essentially over by halftime. Combine that with another long rain delay (pussy America lives) that gift wrapped a chance for the home team to regroup (they didn’t) and for the Glazer boys to sell more concessions and the game was about as enjoyable as a colonoscopy. The bulk of the games just stink and Commissioner Roger Goodell keeps watering down the product to sell the league to overseas audiences. Now they are even talking about eliminating the freaking kickoffs.
Between the lousy on the field product and the growing number of oppressed millionaire assholes throwing in with Kaepernick it’s no wonder that ratings are tanking.
