On a Sunday when attention should have been focused on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bludgeoning the hapless Chicago Bears it was instead hogged by a petulant Prima Donna making a political statement. Wide Receiver Mike Evans grabbed headlines when he sat out the national anthem to protest Donald Trump’s election victory. Evans chose to make it all about himself on a weekend when the league honored the nation’s military members to commemorate Veterans Day. It was another blight on a season marked by declining TV ratings and one more black eye for a league that is seeing it’s popularity nosedive thanks to the atrocious handling of the national anthem protests.
Yahoo Sports reports “Mike Evans kneels during anthem to protest Trump: ‘Something’s not right”:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans struck a now-familiar pose before his game on Sunday, kneeling in a form of protest during the pregame national anthem. But the focus of Evans’ protest was one new to NFL stadiums: the impending presidency of Donald Trump.
“If this happens, then America’s not right right now. I said this a long time ago. When he ran, I thought it was a joke. The joke continues,” Evans said of Trump. “I’m not a political person that much, but I got common sense. And I know when something’s not right.”
Evans made clear after the game that he was specifically protesting Trump, and would continue to kneel “as long as he’s the president-elect.” Trump’s inauguration is scheduled for Jan. 20.
Evans also took pains to note he was not seeking to criticize men and women in uniform. “I don’t want to, you know, disrespect the veterans or anything,” Evans said. “The men and women who serve this country, I’m forever indebted to them. But the things that’s been going on in America lately, I’m not going to stand for that. When Ashton Kutcher comes out and says we’ve been punked, then I’ll stand again. But I won’t stand anymore.”
Evans has become one of the NFL’s best young receivers after a college career catching passes from drunken loser Johnny Manziel and is now reformed rapist Jameis Winston’s top target. His decision to spit on the troops and the flag comes despite the state in which he plies his trade being in the win column for Trump thanks to voters and that included many in the stands at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.
If the latest disciple of motley militant Colin Kaepernick wants to throw a snit by pointing fingers at someone to blame for Hillary’s loss he should start with the father of the controversial national anthem protests himself. Kaepernick didn’t even bother to vote.
Yes, that’s right. The oppressed millionaire hypocrite and founder of Black Panther youth indoctrination camps loves to throw around names like Martin Luther King Jr. but he can’t even be bothered to get off of his ass and cast his vote – wonderful role model and at least one black themed website roasted the hypocritical ass clown over his snubbing of the democratic process.
According to Rolling Out “Why the activism of Colin Kaepernick can be questioned over his refusal to vote”:
Colin Kaepernick decided to become an activist and stand up for what he believed by sitting down. Apparently upset with the brutality faced by Blacks in America, Kaepernick decided to sit and take a knee while the national anthem was sung before NFL games. It was a strong gesture and inspired athletes across the nation to follow his lead.
However, Kaepernick’s protests could be voided by the fact that he decided not to vote. During a locker room interview with reporters on Nov. 8, Kaepernick revealed that he would not vote. He often discussed his disappointment with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. But even if he believed those candidates were flawed, it should not have stopped him from voting.
If Kaepernick was really concerned with change, he could have used his voice to inspire others to vote for the amendments and candidates that could help the communities that he claims to love. But his neglect was a major disappointment and counterproductive to the message he was attempting to send.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith blasted Kaepernick by saying, “Colin Kaepernick is irrelevant. I don’t want to hear from him again. I don’t want to hear a damn word about anything that he has to say about our nation, the issues that we have, racial injustices, needing change, etc. He comes across as a flaming hypocrite. As far as I’m concerned, I’m not interested in a damn word that he has to say. I hope he goes away.”
Kaepernick has done some good by recently saying that he will donate $1 million to charities that will help the community. But his decision to stay away from the voting polls will cause some to believe that his protests is only a narcisstic cry for attention.
It could be that Kaepernick’s hypocrisy will finally be exposed and rational voices within the black community like Rolling Out will begin to condemn him as the sleazy opportunist and America hating ingrate that he really is. Only when his act grows tired with those who he has been working to incite will he cease to be an inspiration to clueless chumps like Mike Evans and his ilk.
Despite the Tampa Bay win, Evans laid an egg with this worst game of the season as it was clear that his mind was on something other than doing his job.
