Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans may be able to fly like a gazelle on the football field but he’s dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to life and politics. Evans earned the ire of many when he chose to protest the national anthem during Sunday’s home game against the Chicago Bears because he was pissed off that Donald Trump won the election.
Not only did the misguided young man join the motley crew of cop-hating militant Colin Kaepernick in dissing the flag but he chose do it on a weekend when the NFL was honoring the nation’s military veterans. There has been much debate over whether Evans thumbing of his nose at the vets to protest Trump was appropriate but now the news has now emerged that the dumb bastard didn’t even bother to vote.
According to Pro Football Talk “Before protesting result of election, Mike Evans said he didn’t vote”:
Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans sat during the national anthem yesterday, to protest the outcome of the election — an election which he may not have bothered to participate in.
According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Evans posted on social media last week that he did not vote.
Teammate Louis Murphy posed the question on Instagram last Tuesday: “Who voted? Who didn’t?” and “Did you #vote?”
Evans replied from his official account the simple answer “No.”
Evans wasn’t asked yesterday when discussing his displeasure with Donald Trump whether he bothered to vote. But if he didn’t, it casts his protest in a different light, and will cause many to dismiss it entirely.
The common thread with today’s new breed of militant black anarchists seems to be that they have no use for the democratic process and are itching to take it to the streets instead. Not only did the chucklehead Evans not vote but neither did King Kaepernick or according to reports, a majority of the anti-Trump hooligans who rioted in Portland.
Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter wasn’t amused about Evans’ stunt and said so according to ESPN:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter admitted Monday that he was “disappointed” wide receiver Mike Evans chose to sit during the national anthem before Sunday’s game to protest Donald Trump’s election as president of the United States.
“Yeah, I’m disappointed for that,” Koetter said. “I also respect Mike’s freedom of speech and freedom of expression.”
Koetter said he was adopting the same stance he took when asked in August how he would react if one of his players protested in similar fashion to Colin Kaepernick. He even read the same statement when he addressed the media Monday.
“Believe it or not, we have practiced how to line up for the national anthem. We’ve worked on it. I don’t know if our organization has the right to tell a guy that he needs to do that,” Koetter said in his statement. “I would be disappointed if any of our players didn’t stand up for the national anthem, personally. I look at that as a salute to the people who have paved the way for us, but at the same time, this is a free country, and I think freedom of speech is something that we all believe in and freedom of expression. That’s an individual’s choice. That’s a fine line there. I would personally be disappointed, but I think it would be hard to enforce that rule.”
Coach Koetter will undoubtedly be called a racist by those who have a tendency towards knee-jerk reactions but his comments are among the first that have been critical of the pampered “oppressed” millionaires who are acting out and unintentionally turning off millions of football fans who are finding that they have better things to do on Sunday afternoons.
This malarkey will continue until someone finally grows a set and levels some sort of disciplinary action against the entitled militants. This has never been a free speech issue but rather one of negatively impacting the image and reputation of one’s employer because these buffoons are on the clock when they choose to wipe their asses with the flag and spit on the troops.
The NFL could do wonders to restore their flagging ratings if they would just start suspending these clowns.
