The feds were smited when their trumped up case against the militia group that occupied an Oregon wildlife preserve early this year went down in flames on Thursday. A Portland jury delivered a kick in the gut to Leviathan by delivering a resounding not guilty verdict to Ammon Bundy and six others after a contentious trial in which the government tried to stack the deck against those exercising their right to protest.

According to the Associated Press “Jury acquits leaders of Oregon standoff of federal charges”:

A jury delivered an extraordinary blow to the government in a long-running battle over the use of public lands when it acquitted all seven defendants involved in the armed occupation of a national wildlife refuge in rural southeastern Oregon.

Tumult erupted in the courtroom Thursday after the verdicts were read when an attorney for group leader Ammon Bundy demanded his client be immediately released and repeatedly yelled at the judge. U.S. marshals tackled attorney Marcus Mumford to the ground, used a stun gun on him several times and arrested him.

U.S. District Judge Anna Brown said she could not release Bundy because he still faces charges in Nevada stemming from an armed standoff at his father Cliven Bundy’s ranch two years ago.

The Portland jury acquitted Bundy, his brother Ryan Bundy and five others of conspiring to impede federal workers from their jobs at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, 300 miles southeast of Portland. The jury could not reach a verdict on a single count of theft for Ryan Bundy.

Even attorneys for the defendants were surprised by the acquittals.

“It’s stunning. It’s a stunning victory for the defense,” said Robert Salisbury, attorney for defendant Jeff Banta. “I’m speechless.”

The U.S Attorney in Oregon, Billy J. Williams, issued a statement defending the decision to bring charges against the seven defendants: “We strongly believe that this case needed to be brought before a Court, publicly tried, and decided by a jury.”

The jury’s decision could be a signal of growing distrust in federal law enforcement agencies that have been politicized during the tenure of Emperor Barack Obama. It’s getting damned difficult to have faith in a system where a lying criminal psychopath like Hillary Clinton is given a free pass on things for which lesser beings would be sent to prison over and Obama has used the IRS and FBI to go after political opposition. Yet Mrs. Clinton stands at the brink of winning the presidency despite her flagrant disregard for the law – whether the jury was sending a message is unknown but they will hardly be the only ones as faith in the fairness of the system is rapidly collapsing.

It was clear that the fascists in the government and the loopy left were engaging in a politically motivated vendetta against Mr. Bundy and his fellow occupiers. Liberal smartasses tabbed the group as “y’all qaeda” with some even calling for a paramilitary invasion of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and the liquidation of the protesters. The Obama regime was clearly looking to make an example of Bundy and his group who were making a legitimate statement against big government overreach and yet Black Lives Matter thugs are allowed to run amok in the streets.

The ham-handed efforts by the feds to bring the hammer down didn’t impress the jury which has to be giving Obama’s Justice Department fits today as it scrambles to respond.

Ammon Bundy will remain in custody facing charges over the Bundy Ranch standoff, a show trial that a potential Hillary Clinton regime will be sure to exploit for maximum shock value.
