The over the top shilling for Hillary Clinton and the Democrats has reached the point where two of the more prominent progressive writers of recent times have gone on the record to blast the media for a total dereliction of duty. With some of the nation’s largest media organizations like CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post effectively turning into propaganda arms of the Democratic party it bodes ill for the future of an already putrid media that no longer serves the best interests of Americans as a whole.
Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Glenn Greenwald – who broke the Edward Snowden stories – blasted the media in an interview for Slate online and despite his own loathing of Donald Trump made a bigger point with his calling out of ongoing red-baiting ‘bullshit’ when it comes to the media and Trump.
The U.S. media is essentially 100 percent united, vehemently, against Trump, and preventing him from being elected president. I don’t have an actual problem with that because I share the premises on which it is based about why he poses such extreme dangers. But that doesn’t mean that as a journalist, or even just as a citizen, that I am willing to go along with any claim, no matter how fact-free, no matter how irrational, no matter how dangerous it could be, in order to bring Trump down.
So, literally, the lead story in the New York Times today suggests, and other people have similarly suggested it, that Trump was literally putting in a request to Putin for the Russians to cyberattack the FBI, the United States government, or get Hillary Clinton’s emails. That is such unmitigated bullshit. What that was was an offhanded, trolling comment designed to make some kind of snide reference to the need to find Hillary’s emails. He wasn’t directing the Russians, in some genuine, literal way, to go on some cybermission to find Hillary’s emails. If he wanted to request the Russians to do that, why would he do it in some offhanded way in a press conference? It was a stupid, reckless comment that he made elevated into treason.
Greenwald had previously earned the ire of the Clinton Khmer Rouge when he lashed out at the queen two years ago:
Hillary is banal, corrupted, drained of vibrancy and passion. I mean, she’s been around forever, the Clinton circle. She’s a fucking hawk and like a neocon, practically. She’s surrounded by all these sleazy money types who are just corrupting everything everywhere. But she’s going to be the first female president, and women in America are going to be completely invested in her candidacy. Opposition to her is going to be depicted as misogynistic, like opposition to Obama has been depicted as racist. It’s going to be this completely symbolic messaging that’s going to overshadow the fact that she’ll do nothing but continue everything in pursuit of her own power. They’ll probably have a gay person after Hillary who’s just going to do the same thing.
Rolling Stone magazine’s resident flaming leftist Matt Taibbi also incited the Hillemmings with his just published piece “The Summer of the Shill”:
The last month or so of Trump-Hillary coverage may have been the worst stretch of pure journo-shilling we’ve seen since the run-up to the Iraq war. In terms of political media, there’s basically nothing left on the air except Trump-bashing or Hillary-bashing.
Take last week’s news cycle:
Red-state media obsessed over a series of emails about the Clinton Foundation obtained by Judicial Watch (a charter member of the “vast right-wing conspiracy”) as part of a Freedom of Information lawsuit. The emails hinted that Foundation donors might have had special access to Hillary Clinton’s State Department.
Meanwhile, the cable-news channels consumed by Democrat-leaning audiences, MSNBC and CNN, spent most of last week hammering Donald Trump’s latest outrages, especially the “the Second Amendment people” comments seeming to incite violence against Hillary Clinton or her judicial appointments.
Practically every story on non-conservative cable last week was a Democratic Party news flash: Reagan’s daughter blasts Trump’s comments! More Republicans defect to support Hillary! GOP, expecting Trump loss, shifts funds to down-ballot races! Khizr Khan challenges McCain to Dump Trump! Trump’s worst offense was mocking disabled reporter, poll finds!
What’s crucial to understand is that a great many commercial media outlets now are not so much liberal-leaning as Democratic-Party leaning.
There’s a huge difference between advocacy journalism and electoral advocacy. Not just occasionally but all the time now, private news organizations are doing the work that political parties used to have to pay for in the form of ads.
Both writers are taking flak from the paid Hillary trolls for their vile blasphemy.
In the coordinated drive to totally destroy Trump in the media and deliver the election to the Clintons, the Democrats as well as Vichy Republicans are in effect setting up a unified propaganda apparatus that is going to be weaponized if Hillary assumes the office of the presidency come January. Considering the dangerous agenda of Clinton including gun confiscation, crushing of political dissent, jacking up tax rates, war with Syria, war with Russia and a continued push to turn the government into a criminal racket for her own benefit, the media would be the one thing that could place some kind of a check on her power.
Once again, the transformation of the mainstream media into a 24/7 anti-Trump megaphone shows that with all of the institutional failures that have plagued this once great country that no institution has failed Americans more than the press which has become an affront to public decency.
